This role is a strategic consulting leader to perform as a senior revenue cycle leader at a health system (VP of Revenue Cycle Operations) focused on providing new and emerging approaches for our clients’ business processes, projects, and initiatives for all aspects of a healthcare system revenue cycle. Duties will require 100% onsite client role with strong central business office (CBO experience, including but are not limited to Scheduling, Pre-registration, Patient Access, Charge Services, Revenue Integrity, HIM, Billing, Remit Processing, Patient Collections, and Bad Debt. Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing onsite strategies for Texican clients, including cash-flow, process & workflow improvements, bad-debt minimization, and management of the overall health of the company’s receivables. The V.P. will manage client performance using a number of Performance Indicators (KPIs) developed by Texican, Inc. The VP will be responsible for the overall success of their assigned engagement. The VP will lead the Texican team as well as the client’s revenue cycle staff’s efforts to meet strategic goals and deliver sustainable cash flow and revenue cycle improvements. The VP Revenue Cycle Operations reports directly to the Senior Vice-President of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly accountable for the performance of the Revenue Cycle management team representing both Texican and client leaders
  • Responsible for A/R performance, specifically cash flow and cash to charge ratio metrics
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to professional and institutional billing, ensuring that the processes followed comply with all regulations
  • A thorough knowledge of the revenue cycle across the organization while displaying the confidence to challenge the status quo to improve organizational effectiveness
  • Be a leader and team member on problem-solving projects
  • Effectively lead, motivate, and manage a large team of A/R professionals
  • Proactively assess, document, and create action plans to address any issues that affect the overall achievement of Revenue Cycle goals
  • Effectively identifies and articulates operational and technology deficiencies affecting operational success
  • Clearly defines and commits to financial and operational results, interprets, and communicates expected outcomes through the leadership chain and holds self and others accountable to achieve results using performance coaching and clear feedback
  • Ensures that appropriate staffing projections and workforce plans are in place and that actions are proactively taken to recruit, engage, develop, and retain high performing associates
  • Builds and sustains strong teams and business relationships, leveraging strengths and synergies for enhanced business impact
  • Cultivates business relationships with vendors and service providers to maximize operational efficiencies, cost savings and pricing strategies to leverage advertising and sales opportunities
  • Identifies and builds key relationships (client, community, regulatory, industry) at levels appropriate to existing strategy and the needs of the business, establishes a diverse client network, and recognizes and manages unique client needs
  • Responsible for a continual assessment of customer needs and potential solutions available through Texican
  • Responsible for internal quality and performance monitoring to ensure that customer expectations are being achieved
  • Maintaining local employee satisfaction and retention
  • Works with leaders and human capital to resolve any personnel or performance issues

Essential Job Functions

  • The overall operational responsibility for the revenue cycle business and practical functions through onsite and offsite leadership of all staff to ensure maximum utilization of resources and the efficient delivery of services
  • Strategize with client and operations leaders to proactively identify performance improvement and problem avoidance areas.
  • Promotes a team-oriented culture
  • Manage utilizing Texican KPI’s and provide monthly status update for client & Texican management.
  • Assure satisfaction with the quality and amount of support provided for functions, initiatives, and projects
  • Continually seek ways and means for improving the delivery and support of revenue cycle activities and programs
  • Assure satisfaction among customer groups by monitoring and responding appropriately to outcomes and feedback
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the job functions of all Revenue Cycle staff, is aware of process flow across organization, and involves them, as appropriate, when recommended actions may impact their work functions
  • Manages/Hires a high performing team, assures ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding Key Performance Indicators monthly
  • Assures that annual revenue and profit goals for his/her area of responsibility are met or exceeded

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Mimium of 5 years of experience as Director/ VP level of revenue cycle at a health system
  • Position requires 100% travel
  • Executive/Senior Management role (10-15 years’ experience) in Revenue Cycle business operations
  • Strong conceptual and strategic skills and ability to work with and thoroughly understand all functional areas involved in Revenue Cycle Operations
  • Multi-faceted strategic leader with ability to manage multiple teams along different business lines
  • Strong business acumen; strategic thinker/approach
  • B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Healthcare, or related area required or 10+ years of progressive revenue cycle management in a healthcare environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft business applications
  • Effective motivator and effective communication skills to interact with clients and employees
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment
